NEW YORK, NY. Dec 15, 2022 / Avibra, the mission-driven company that unlocks affordable, accessible benefits for everyone, today announced the winners of the 2022 Annual Social Impact Awards. The awards recognize Avibra partners that have delivered significant social impact in their communities by providing safety-net benefits at no cost.
The winners span a variety of sectors ranging from fintechs to employers. This wide breadth of reach helps many Americans who, in most cases, do not otherwise have access to safety-net benefits like life insurance, supplemental health benefits or well-being benefits.
Avibra’s Social Impact Awards aim to highlight the stress and struggles an average American faces when they aren’t able to affordably get these. Only 51% of Americans are able to cover a $400 emergency in cash. And only 48% of Americans have life insurance.
The winners were chosen across three verticals based on their commitment to helping their communities.
Fintech Winner: Propel’s Providers App
Propel aims to make America’s safety net more user-friendly by building software for low-income Americans who are often overlooked by traditional tech innovation. Their community uses the Providers app to manage their EBT balance-checking, discover new job opportunities, and access tailored coupons and money saving resources. Propel offers $1,000 of Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance to their user base through Avibra.
“Our mission is to help an underprivileged community get access to opportunities that help them live happier, healthier lives, and offering Avibra to our users has helped us extend that offering in a wonderful, fulfilling way,” says Jimmy Chen, founder and CEO of Propel
Employer Winner: Butcher and Bee
Butcher and Bee, a restaurant group and James Beard Award finalist, knew the importance of providing support and benefits to their employees, especially as they face increased inflation and growing concerns of job safety from a post-covid world. They provide their employees with Avibra’s 24/7 well-being advisor, $10,000 in Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance and the employee’s choice of three supplemental benefits, options including dental and vision plans, roadside assistance, cell phone insurance, telemedicine and more.
“We are very honored to be selected for this award. We value our employees very much, and always look for ways to help them. Offering Avibra was a no-brainer for them, and it’s also a great retention and hiring tool for us. Aside from just that – we love Avibra’s mission and commitment to developing more and more benefits that the average American can afford and access easily,” says Katie, HR Manager of Butcher and Bee.
Gig Company: Gridwise
Gridwise, the leading business app for gig drivers, helps drivers find the best places and times to drive and automatically track their earnings, performance stats, mileage, and tax deductions . It is the best assistant option for a rideshare or delivery driver; having partnered with Avibra, Gridwise has expanded its benefits marketplace and continues to add value to the drivers outside of its core features – Gridewise users can now access affordable benefits. All Gridwise drivers unlock $10,000 of AD&D Insurance through Avibra and get access to all of Avibra’s $1/week benefits. Furthermore, Gridwise Plus members are qualified to receive additional discounts off of the benefits.
“Partnering with Avibra has allowed us to rapidly expand the benefits we offer to our drivers,” states Gridwise CEO, Ryan Green. “Avibra’s offering is something typically either not accessible by our drivers or is expensive. We’re incredibly humbled and honored to be receiving this award and to be working with Avibra in solving challenges that drivers face every day.”
Avibra is thankful for every partner in their path to provide affordable access to safety-net benefits to more Americans. From day one, Avibra’s plan was to improve people’s physical and mental health, provide financial and career advice, and help their community. Their purpose is rooted in giving back and democratizing essential benefits for everyone, regardless of employment status, in order to build a vibrant community.
“We are so proud of our partners helping to continue our mission of providing affordable, accessible benefits to the masses. They are each exemplary in their own company missions and their own connection within their communities. We look forward to seeing their communities grow and thrive in years to come,” states Avibra’s CEO and Founder, Yogesh Shetty.
