No one plans for a disaster. A wildfire, a hurricane, a house fire in the middle of the night. These moments arrive without warning and leave families with nothing but the clothes on their backs. In those devastating moments, relief organizations are among the first on the ground, offering shelter, food, blood, and hope when people need it most. Their work is quiet, constant, and absolutely essential to the fabric of this country. Without them, countless families would face their worst moments entirely alone.
Always on call
The scale of need in the United States is staggering. Across the country, emergency responders answer a crisis every 8 minutes. Home fires alone account for more than 90% of domestic disaster responses, and on average 7 people die every single day in the U.S. due to home fires. Behind every statistic is a real family that lost everything overnight, and a trained volunteer ready to help them take the first difficult step toward recovery.
More than disaster relief
Humanitarian relief organizations do far more than respond to disasters after the fact. They help supply about 40% of the nation’s blood, train millions of Americans each year in CPR, first aid, and water safety, and provide around-the-clock support to military families and veterans navigating emergencies far from home. The reach of this work is broad, consistent, and deeply woven into the safety net that holds communities together in their hardest moments.
Standing with those who serve
For military families, the challenges of service don’t stop when a loved one is deployed. Emergencies happen at home while service members are thousands of miles away, and navigating those crises alone is an enormous burden. Relief organizations help bridge that gap, processing over 1,300 daily emergency communications and critical services to connect service members with their families when it matters most. Supporting military families is not a political issue. It is a deeply human one.

Helping neighbors in need is a value that crosses every political line.
